Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University is the pediatrics education institution of higher education in Saint Petersburg (formerly known as Leningrad) city of Russian Federation. Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University is considered to be the oldest pediatric education institution in Russian Federation as well as in the world. Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University was formed in 1925 as Institute of Maternity and Infancy in Leningrad city’s pediatrics hospital complex. In 1935 Institute of Maternity and Infancy was converted into Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute. In 1994 the institute received the status of the Academy and on April 27, 2012 the academy received university status and became Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University. Currently Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University has 3700 students who are being trained in 66 departments under staff of 810 skilled teachers. There are 29000 students who graduated from Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University.
